BANGLADESH ASKS FOR PAK APOLOGY FOR 1971 GENOCIDES WHO CRES NOW INDIRA IS INDIA FALSEHOOD DRAMA

Bangladesh asks for Pak apology for 1971 'genocide'
Bangladesh on Wednesday asked Islamabad to offer a formal apology for the "genocide" committed by its army against people of the then east-Pakistan during the Liberation War of 1971.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni asked Pakistan to apologise for the atrocities its army had committed during Bangladesh's war of independence in 1971, the Foreign Ministry said.

The issue was taken up by the foreign minister during a meeting with Islamabad's High Commissioner to Dhaka, Alamgir Bashar Khan Babar here yesterday.

Besides demanding an apology, Moni also said that Pakistan should settle the lingering disputes between the two countries over sharing of resources and take back millions of Pakistanis stranded in this country, 38 years after the war.

"During the meeting the Foreign Minister raised the issue of resolving the unsettled matters pending for last 38 years between the two countries," Bdnews24 said.

The "pending issues include sharing of assets, seeking formal apologies for the genocide in 1971, repatriation of stranded Pakistanis and others," the ministry said in a statement.

Pakistan's envoy met Moni to hand over a condolence message to the government following the death of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband.

This was the first time Moni raised the issue of apology since assuming office on January 6 this year.

The ruling Awami League has demanded an apology for the "genocide" in which it has been alleged that three million Bangladeshis were killed and nearly 300,000 women raped at the hands of the Pakistani army in 1971.

Pakistan, however, does not recognise the killing of three million Bangladeshis.

Launching of a direct shipping service between Chittagong and Karachi ports to boost the bilateral trade, was among the issues that cropped up during the meeting.

Babar also sought Bangladesh's support for Pakistani candidature for international bodies like OIC, IAEA, UNDP and UNFPA, the ministry said.
